When Sheriff Wayne Anderson asked me if I’d ever thought of playing Santa, it brought a flood of memories.
District Attorney General Barry Stuabus said the number of cases pursued by his office in the most recent six-month period was 100 more than the prior six-month period. Staubus and others also reiterated that the explosion in the number of inmates in recent years is directly attributable to drug use.

JOHNSON CITY — A former Sullivan County corrections officer has been indicted on assault charges following an inquiry by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.
A needs assessment study of the Sullivan County Jail, produced by a consultant specializing in jail management who works for the University of Tennessee’s County Technical Assistance Service, indicates the county must expand its jail facilities.
