BRISTOL — Brett Moffitt celebrated with a victory as the NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series playoffs opened with a bang Thursday night at Bristol Motor Speedway.
NASCAR overturned a victory for the first time under its toughened new policy on cheating when Brett Moffitt was declared the winner of the truck series race at Iowa Speedway after Ross Chastain failed a post-race inspection.
Kyle Busch scored his 199th NASCAR national event victory Sunday at ISM Raceway, drawing the inevitable comparisons to Richard Petty’s 200 Cup Series wins.
Inspections will now be completed at the track, a process that should take about 90 minutes, and the winning team will lose its victory if it fails. Disqualified cars will now lose points, purse money and even the trophy.
