Kingsport purchased the old Lynn View High School a decade ago and has since made a number of improvements to the facility. Now more are on the way.
Another round of improvements for the Lynn View Community Center includes updated restrooms on the first floor, new steps and handicapped ramp out front and a landscaped courtyard around the original flagpole. Up next the city plans to demolish the old concrete grandstand and replace it with aluminum bleachers.
The Kingsport Model Trains Project held an open house on Saturday to announce its new location at the Lynn View Community Center. Chairman Doug Paton said more than 300 people came out to the event, checked out the trains and dioramas and enjoyed
The Kingsport Model Train Project came about after a donation to the city's Office of Cultural Arts and its nonprofit partner Engage Kingsport. Two years ago, Mrs. Ned McChrystal donated an extensive train collection to the two organizations and since then volunteers have worked on the collection and share the love of model trains.
