KINGSPORT — The Kingsport Axmen will not finish the Appalachian League season.
A former Kingsport Axmen player arrested on Monday said in a message to a team member, “I’ll kill everyone single one of y’all,” according to a document from Sullivan County General Sessions Court.
After postponing games Monday and Tuesday, the Kingsport Axmen are scheduled to resume Appalachian League play Thursday at Bristol.
One alleged bad apple doesn’t spoil the rest of the Axmen team, nor the franchise, nor the league. Go see the good apples. Go let the team and management know you still love them.
Matthew T. Taylor, 21, a 2018 graduate of Dobyns-Bennett High School, was removed from the Appalachian League team Monday afternoon and arrested later in the day. He has since been released on $25,000 bond.
