Jordan Casey, 30, works to thin out his tomato plants Tuesday afternoon at the Harvest of Hope Community Garden in downtown Kingsport. Originally from Kentucky, Casey has lived in Kingsport for about five years and literally stumbled across the garden while walking with a friend one day. At one point, Casey said he weighed 600 pounds, but walking has resulted in him dropping about half that weight. After discovering the garden, he expressed a keen interest in it to the organizers, and soon after received three raised beds for his tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers and onions. The garden is located on Charlemont Avenue and contains more than 50 raised beds.
