Billie Jo Crawford, 87, passed from this life at 4:20 a.m. Tuesday morning.
She had been at the Waters Skilled Nursing Facility in Johnson City with hospice care for the past week.
She was born in Sullivan County to the late Shields and Leota Crawford and had lived at her current address since 1958. She was preceded in death by a brother Wayne Dee Crawford and two sisters Imogene Munroe and Virginia Hite.
Surviving are nieces Suzanne Holley and Pamela Taylor, nephew Steve Hite, cousin Patsy Kay Simmons, and her caregiver for the past 5 years Dawn Arrington. All of whom she loved (as she often said) “A bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck”.
She was a homemaker and a caregiver. She was a member of Sullivan Baptist Church. Recently she had assured those closest to her that, “When it was her time, she was ready”. She told us that she looked forward to being with Jesus and seeing her family in Heaven.
Billie Jo’s family and friends are mostly gone now. Most of those who remain do not live locally, therefore, no memorial service is planned. Her ashes will be scattered in the place she requested. In lieu of a memorial, please spend some time with your best memories of her on June 17th. That would have been her 88th birthday.
After the night, the morning, bidding all darkness cease. After Life’s cares and sorrows, the comfort and sweetness of peace.
