KATS launches new logo on new vehicles

The new Kingsport Area Transit Service garage will be 23,000 square feet with six bays, a wash bay, a small office with storage space and restrooms. It will hold KATS’ entire fleet of 22 vehicles with extra space for future vehicles.

KINGSPORT — If you’ve never taken a ride on a KATS bus, now’s the time to try it. It is free after all, at least for the month of February.

In celebration of the service’s “love of transit,” the Kingsport Area Transit Service is offering free rides for the entire month of February. This special promotion also includes a free ticket book given to Dial-a-Ride 65/ADA/Job Assist passengers who ride during that month (one 24-count ticket book per registered rider).

In a continued effort to highlight the many benefits of public transportation, KATS continues to offer various promotional events throughout the year in order to encourage people to try public transit. February’s free rides provide the perfect opportunity to try the KATS system.

So be sure to take advantage of these deals and tell your friends and family.

KATS — now in its 26th year — operates six fixed bus routes Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. throughout the Model City. KATS also offers Dial-A-Ride ADA services for seniors and people with medical conditions and Dial-A-Ride 65, a curb-to-curb service for people age 65 and older.

The KATS transit center is located at 900 E. Main St. For more information, visit www.kingsporttransit.org.
