Services

Rogersville Baptist Temple will have a Jubilee Service on Friday at 7 p.m. The Morrison Sisters from Resaca, Georgia, will sing, and Pastor Dustin Epps from Faith Baptist in White Pine will preach.

First Presbyterian Church, 100 W. Church Circle, Kingsport, will hold worship services at 8:45 a.m. and 11 a.m. Sunday with Dr. Mike Shelton preaching. Visit the church website at www.firstpreskingsport.org for guidelines for attending worship services.

Clinch Valley Church in Eidson will have morning and evening services Sunday. Forever Thankful will sing at the morning service, and DownPour will sing at the evening service.

Lynn Garden Evangelical Methodist Church will have Rev. Earl Miller preaching at the morning service Sunday and Tony Peters singing at the evening service.

Gorman McMurray will preach at Durham’s Chapel Freewill Baptist Church on Sunday at 6:30 p.m. Pastor Terry Rhoton invites everyone to join on Facebook for livestreaming.

Cornerstone Fellowship, 169 Judge Baines Road, Fall Branch, will celebrate its 18th annual homecoming service on Sunday, May 23, at 11 a.m. Rev. Jerry Scalf will be the visiting minister. Lunch will be served following the worship service.

Revivals

Pilgrim’s Rest Baptist Church, 3120 Atoka Circle, across from the Fort Henry Drive Walmart, is having the South Kingsport Jubilee nightly at 6 p.m. through Sunday morning. There will be special singing and preaching nightly.

Cedar Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 125 Coley St., Kingsport, will host a revival May 16-22. Times are 10:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. on May 16 and 7 p.m. May 17-22. Speakers will include Bob Sanders, Ron Dimaline, Josh Scalf, Layton Bentley, David Harrison, Eric Chapman, Joe Shelton and Matt Browder. Special singing each night.

A revival featuring Rev. Wayne Huntley will be held at Tabernacle of Praise, 2205 Granby Road, Kingsport, on May 21-23. Times are 7 p.m. on May 21 and 22 and 10 a.m. on May 23.

The Greeneville Tent Crusade is coming back to Greeneville. This free, non-ticketed event will take place May 24 through June 4 at 3124 W. Andrew Johnson Hwy. Services are scheduled to begin each evening at 7 p.m. There will be preaching by Evangelist D.R. Harrison and music from The Nelons, The Inspirations, Ricky Atkinson, The Allens, The Elkins Family, The Tabb Family, The Horn Family, Frank Thacker, Of The Day and Aaron Butler.

Decorations

The homecoming and decoration for Kincaid Cemetery, located on Highway 11-W near Rogersville, which was originally scheduled for Sunday, has been canceled. Donations for upkeep may be mailed to Roberta Anderson at 191 Thurman Lane, Rogersville, TN 37857, or someone will be at the cemetery Sunday between 2 and 4 to take donations.

Ross Camp Ground United Methodist Church will host the annual Memorial Weekend “Meet and Greet” at the RCG Cemetery. A tent will be set up near the cemetery, and water and snacks will be served. Church members will welcome families and friends as they come to place flowers on graves of loved ones. The event will be held on Saturday, May 29, from 1 until 4 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend. The annual Hensley Cemetery Decoration Day will be held on Saturday, June 5, at 10:30 a.m. at Big Cut Baptist Church in Gate City, Virginia. Music by Mike and Dottie Lane. Community

Elm Springs United Methodist Church in Church Hill will have a yard sale in the fellowship hall on Friday and Saturday from 7 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Lamplight Theatre will present an original production called “At the Cross” on Sunday at 3 p.m. Doors will open one hour prior to the performance. Admission is a suggested donation of $12 for adults and $7 for students. The performance is free for children 5 and under. Gray United Methodist Church provides a free meal for the community on the first and third Thursday of each month. The menu for May 20 is sloppy joes, chips and dessert. Drive up between 6 and 7 p.m., and a meal will be brought to your car. The church is located behind Gray School and beside the Appalachian Fairgrounds. The church pantry is open on Mondays and Fridays from 10 a.m. until noon for those who may be in need of food. You can drive up to the front of the church, where someone will greet you and then bring a food bag to your car.

Beech Creek Missionary Baptist Church will have a community event and yard sale on Saturday, May 22, from 7 a.m. until 3 p.m. with children’s activities, hamburgers and hot dogs, a bounce house and more. Come meet new Pastor Billy Ray Carmack and his wife, Judy.

Emmanuel Christian Seminary at Milligan University will host Rev. Dr. Eric Barreto, Weyerhaeuser Associate Professor of New Testament at Princeton Theological Seminary, for a lecture, “Jesus at the Table: Belonging and Salvation in the Gospel of Luke.” The lecture will take place in the Gregory Center at Milligan University on Monday, May 24, at 7 p.m. and is free and open to the public. The event will follow Milligan’s COVID-19 safety protocols, and masks will be required inside the Gregory Center.
