The Board of Education at a called meeting Monday night voted to approve the Atmos Energy installation of a four-inch gas service line from Shipley Ferry Road to the new high school off Lynn Road near the former Sam’s Wholesale Club, now home to Second Harvest Food Bank.
The contract is for $56,000. In exchange, Atmos will install 6,334 feet of line to the school property. Director of Schools Evelyn Rafalowski said the gas will be used for the kitchen, career technical education areas and science classrooms. She said funding will come from the general purpose school budget section for natural gas service.
