Scrapbook Flashback: Share your photos from Halloweens Past

Sunday Scrapbook • Oct 2, 2017 at 10:30 AM

You said you enjoyed seeing and sharing your old photos ~ and we listened by bringing back our popular Scrapbook Flashback. Now, it’s up to you to make sure we have plenty of photos to fill those pages each month.

Scrapbook Flashback features themed photos from 30 or more years ago (for the record, that’s pre-1987) so we’re asking you - our readers - to dig out those old photo albums and share your best shots associated with each month’s themes. The theme will be announced online at TimesNews.Net and in Sunday Stories on the first Sunday of each month and you’ll have two weeks to get those photos in for our special Scrapbook Flashback editions.

The October theme is "Halloweens Past." That means, we want to see photos of your old costumes, decorations, school events and parties from Halloweens past. As long as they’re 30 years old or older, we want to see them.

You can scan them or shoot a photo of them and email them to us at [email protected] Or mail a copy to: Scrapbook Flashback, 701 Lynn Garden Drive, Kingsport, TN 37662.

The deadline for October entries is Friday, Oct. 13. (That’s Friday the 13th, by the way)! Be sure to provide us with a brief description of the photo, including who's in the picture, as well as when and where it was taken and the name of the person submitting it.

All of the photos we receive before the deadline will appear in our Scrapbook Flashback online gallery at TimesNews.Net. Selected snapshots will be featured in print in our October Scrapbook Flashback inside Sunday Stories on Oct. 22 (and Oct. 29, if the response warrants it).

Photos received after the monthly Flashback deadline will be forwarded to Out of the Attic, which appears in the Sunday Living section.

Although Scrapbook Flashback is a themed section for old photos, readers are invited to share current photos of life's 'scrapbook' moments every week in Sunday Scrapbook and online at TimesNews.net. From sporting events and church plays to family gatherings and weekend getaways, we love seeing pictures of our readers and their families enjoying the simple pleasures of everyday life in Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia. We also love seeing pictures of your children and grandchildren, pets, church and civic club events, recreational activities and scenic shots of our beautiful region.

Are you ready to get started? Well, then grab your camera - or even your iPhone - and take some photos. Then, simply share them with us and we'll take care of the rest.

Email your contributions (along with your name) to [email protected] or mail them to: Sunday Scrapbook, Attn: Carmen Musick, Kingsport Times-News, 701 Lynn Garden Drive, Kingsport, Tenn. 37662. You can also share your photos with us through direct message or by tagging us @kingsport_times_news on Instagram.
