While the “Fill the Box” campaign was underway Tuesday, EMS workers took turns working two-hour shifts bell-ringing for the Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Campaign outside both entrances of the Walmart on Fort Henry Drive.
The jail is built to hold 619 inmates. On Monday it held 897 inmates.The jail has been under scrutiny by the Tennessee Corrections Institute for more than four years. Committee’s year-old recommendation possibly nearing action.
BLOUNTVILLE — Sullivan County Mayor Richard Venable and Washington County Mayor Joe Grandy have appointed the “Blue Ribbon Committee on Regional Cooperation” to consider potential regional economic development strategies. “We must do all we can to position our region to compete and succeed in the highly technological future,” Venable said.
