Jayne, Compton, Delung lead Sullivan South past Tennessee High

KINGSPORT — The Sullivan South Lady Rebels defeated nonconference opponent Tennessee High on Wednesday night 25-16, 25-17, 22-25, 16-25 and 15-13.

Senior outside hitter Abbey Jayne had a big night for the Lady Rebels, finishing with a double-double of 20 kills, 18 digs and a pair of aces.

Makkenzie Compton also had a double-double of 15 digs and 25 assists. Olvia Delung added 21 digs and 21 assists.

South’s Allie Jordan had 16 digs, Molly Williams had 15 digs and Rachel Miller added nine kills.

The Lady Rebels cruised through the first two sets, but Tennessee High put together a rally to take the third and fourth sets.

In the fifth set, The Lady Vikings tied things up at 13, but South was able to pull out the win.

For Tennessee High, Kenzie Nickels had 10 kills, nine blocks and three digs while Kloey Tester had 15 kills and five digs. Jamaiya Honaker finished with 11 kills.

On defense for Tennessee High, Evie Cozart had 11 digs while Macy Hurley had 10. Riley McCracken had 12 assists.

South will play at Sullivan East Thursday at 6:30 p.m. while Tennessee High will pay a visit to Daniel Boone at 6 p.m.
