KINGSPORT – Kingpsort’s Parks and Recreation Department is hosting a “Doggie Splash Bash” this Saturday at the Riverview Splash Pad. The free event will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sept. 22 and is open to dogs of all shapes and sizes.

This is the second time the department has hosted such an event. Last year, around 50 dogs paid the splash pad a visit, enjoying a few hours in the sun, splashing around underneath the sprayers and jets, water buckets and cannons.

The splash pad will be fenced in as with last year, so the dogs can run around off the leash. Just be sure you bring a proof of vaccination, as state law requires it. A few vendors will be on hand, selling dog related merchandise and an ice cream truck is expected to show up as well.

Saturday’s event will be the last day the water is on at the splash pad this year. The facility is scheduled to reopen Memorial Day weekend next year.

The Riverview Splash Pad is located at 1101 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.
