Christmas at Carter Mansion offers a glimpse at simpler times

ELIZABETHTON — As part of the Sycamore Shoals State Historic Park, the Carter Mansion in Elizabethton will host “Christmas at the Carter Mansion” on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 2-3 from 6-9 p.m.

You’re invited to step back in time to the 18th century and enjoy a colonial Christmas at the beautiful Carter Mansion.

Join Colonel John Carter, the Carter family, and all their friends for a glimpse into simpler time, when Christmas was the grandest celebration of the entire year.

Spend a candlelit evening in the oldest frame house in Tennessee, decorated with bright greenery for the holidays.

Enjoy music, hot cider, and 18th century interpreters as they transport you to a Colonial American Christmas.

Christmas tours are available by reservation only beginning at 6 p.m. and leaving every 20 minutes until 8:40pm.

Reservations are required. Admission is $5 for adults, and youngsters 17 and under are free.

All donations are graciously accepted and will go to support future programming at the Carter Mansion.

Built between 1775 and 1780, the Carter Mansion is the oldest frame house standing in Tennessee.

The John and Landon Carter Mansion is located at 1013 Broad Street, Elizabethton.
