D-B’s Neglia, South's Cowan make TSWA all-state track team

Dobyns-Bennett’s Sasha Neglia and Sullivan South’s Madison Cowan were each selected all-state in track and field in two events by the Tennessee Sports Writers Association.

Neglia, who will be a junior this year, won the TSSAA Large School championship in the 1,600-meter run and finished second in the 3,200 and was all-state in those two events on the team released on Monday.

Cowan was picked in the high jump and triple jump.

Caitlin Cutshall of Daniel Boone made the team in the pole vault and teammate Maria Chellah was chosen for her efforts in the 800.

Happy Valley’s Natalie Newsome (pole vault), Science Hill’s T.J. Patton (110 hurdles) and Jeb Jones (1,600) and University High’s Aidan Costello (pole vault) also earned all-state recognition.
