300 swimmers competing in Bank of Tennessee Model City Invitational at Kingsport Aquatic Center

KINGSPORT — New pool records were set in every event contested Friday on the opening day of competition in the Bank of Tennessee Model City Invitational at the Kingsport Aquatic Center.

More than 300 swimmers are competing in the three-day event.

Daniel Chang from the host Barracuda Swim Club of Northeast Tennessee set records in the men's individual medley (2:11.51) and the 400 freestyle (4:20.24).

Annie Lane from the Carter Center Marlins out of Virginia, posted a record time of 2:16.16 in the women's 200 meter individual medley.

Emily Allen, representing North Mecklenburg Aquatics from North Carolina, set a record in the women's 400 meter freestyle with a time of 4:33.16.

Carter Center Aquatics leads the team competition with 558 points. The Barracudas are currently second at 468 followed by North Mecklenburg Aquatics (435) and the Virginia's H2Okie Aquatics (420).

The meet will continue on both Saturday and Sunday at the KAC. Admission is free.
