CHUCKEY — On a hot day at Graysburg Hills, the Sullivan South boys golf team turned up the heat.

The Rebels were the only squad to post four scores in the 70s on the way to capturing the Big 8 Conference crown Monday. South posted a winning score of 304, besting runner-up Science Hill (310) by six shots.

Dobyns-Bennett (316) finished third and Tennessee High (318) fourth.

The Indians’ Blake Blizzard used a birdie barrage to offset some putting woes and was the only player on the boys’ side under par. Blizzard’s 2-under 70 gave him a three-shot victory over Science Hill’s Zach Botts (73).

In the girls’ tournament, Lacie York sank a 7-foot birdie putt on the third playoff hole to slip by Science Hill’s Madison Alexander. The pair, who played together all day, each posted a 2-under 70 in regulation before settling the issue in the playoff.
