Aldie Mae Whitaker

KINGSPORT - Aldie Mae Whitaker, age 83 of Blountville, TN entered into the glories of Heaven during the morning hours of Wednesday, December 4, 2019. 

Aldie was born on November 14, 1936 in Sullivan County, TN to Johnny and Zelma Spears.  In 1954, Aldie married her best friend and love of her life, Mr. Carlos Whitaker, and after 63 years of making a lifetime of memories together and raising a family, Carlos passed into the glories of Heaven on October 22, 2017.

Aldie retired from Kingsport City Schools.  She cherished her family and she was a wonderful example of a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Aldie was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Carlos Whitaker; brothers, Johnny Spears and Roy Spears; and sisters, Gladys Bethany and Josephine Ryan.

Left to cherish Aldie’s memory are her children, Barbara Gamble and husband Ralph, Perry Whitaker and wife Donna, Jerry Whitaker and wife Lynn, and Kristen Leonard and husband Walt; grandchildren, Dustin and wife Jessica, Elizabeth and husband Joe, Wesley and wife Laura, Clarissa and husband Taylor, Kendra, Emily, and Max; great-grandchildren, Brooke, Parker, Lilah, Joseph, and Charlotte; several nieces, nephews; and a host of friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Isaiah 117 House of Sullivan County.  Donations can be mailed to Isaiah 117 House, P.O. Box 842, Elizabethton, TN 37664.  Be sure to note on check “Isaiah House Sullivan County”.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 7, 2019 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at East Lawn Funeral Home.  Funeral services will follow at 12:00 pm with Pastor Ronnie Horne officiating.  Aldie will be laid to rest at 1:00 pm following the funeral service at East Lawn Memorial Park in the Garden of the Mausoleum.  Serving as pallbearers will be Wesley Whitaker, Taylor Sykes, Dustin Graham, Joe Fralin, Bill Fleenor, and John Fleenor.  Serving as Honorary Pallbearer will be Max Whitaker.
