He was a veteran, serving in the U.S. Army. He loved to watch the Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears, and Westerns on TV. He also loved to chew his ‘baccer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin H. and Luetishia Moore; brothers, Hobert “Hobe” Moore, Benjamin Eugene “Gene” Moore, Otto Moore, Tommy Moore; sister, Wanda Yeary; grandson, James “Jimmy” R. Moore.
William is survived by his sons, William “Bob” (Lorraine) Moore Jr., David Moore; daughter, Brenda (Roger) Smith; grandchildren, Nakina (Kenny) Boyd, Natisha (Shane) Sturgill, Joseph “Joe” Moore, Kathy (Albert) Kopp, Kimberly (Jerry) Dedic; great-grandchildren, Karissa, Gavin, Brandi, Kailee, Jordan, Anthony, Dylan, Ariahna, Amber, Pamela, Albert; great-great grandchildren, Stella, Aubrey, Aiden, Dominic, Axl, Isabella, Noah; his special love, Genese Humbert; and grand-dogs, Nevaeh and Gigi; as well as a multitude of nieces and nephews. He was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew him.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the Southwest Virginia Cancer Center, Hospice and Palliative Care of Virginia, and nurses Dianne and Barbara for their care.
The Moore family will receive friends from 12 noon to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 16, 2019 at the Roy A. Green Funeral Home, Appalachia. Funeral Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Jimmy Qualls officiating. Procession will follow to American Legion Cemetery, Big Stone Gap for the rendering of military honors and the committal.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Southwest Virginia Cancer Center, the VFW, or the American Cancer Center in his honor.
