Quinton Darrell Bennett

Quinton Darrell Bennett, age 83, of the Indian Springs Community went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport.

Darrell was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Darrell was retired from Mead Paper/Willamette Paper Companies with 46 years of service. He was also employed as a van driver for Sleep Inn of Blountville, TN for several years. Darrell was a past captain of the Kingsport Life Saving Crew and served with the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Department as Auxillary and Reserve for several years. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army having served in Germany during the occupation post World War II period. He was also a member of the Veteran’s of Foreign Wars. Darrell was a member of Gravelly Baptist Church in Kingpsort.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Annie and Donnie Bennett; and 5 brothers and sisters, Nellie Waye, Erma Lee Shively, William “Bud” Bennett, Callie “Tady” Davis and Eugene “Gene” Bennett.  

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Frances Bennett of the home; daughter and husband, Donna R. Riddle and Dan; grandson, Alexander D. Riddle; all of Chuckey, TN, along with with several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm on Thursday, July 12, 2018 at Gravelly Baptist Church located at 647 Gravely Rd, Kingsport, TN 37660. Funeral services will follow with Pastor David Salley officiating. A Military Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, July 13, 2018 at East Lawn Memorial Park in Kingsport with American Legion Hammond Post #3/265 performing military rites. All those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:45 am.
