Rickles is a rambunctious, 9-month-old chocolate Labrador retriever who ended up at Bridge Home No Kill Animal Rescue after his owner was unexpectedly deployed to Afghanistan.

Now Bridge Home officials are hoping they can find the perfect new home for Rickles.

“His owner, who is in the military, unexpectedly got called up to go to Afghanistan, and because he did not know when he will be coming back, he brought Rickles to us,” Bridge Home Director Regina Isenberg said.

Rickles’ owner originally had arranged for a neighbor to keep the dog while he was out of the country, but that plan didn’t work out.

“They contacted me and I said bring him here,” Isenberg said.

“Rickles is a very energetic young fellow. And he’s so sweet. I hope we find him a loving family with a fenced-in yard,” Isenberg said, noting that Labradors are a high-energy breed and Rickles is still a puppy.

“We have had Rickles neutered and he’s fully vaccinated for rabies, distemper, parvo, everything.”

If you are interested in adopting Rickles, go by Bridge Home in Blountville at 2061 Highway 75, or call (423) 239-5237.
