KINGSPORT — On July 14 at 5 p.m., come to “Mutt Putt” at the Kingsport Putt-Putt Fun Center to help local shelter dogs put their best paws forward!

The event, a fundraiser for new local nonprofit Adopt-A-Cut, has a $10 ticket price for two hours of play on 36 holes of mini-golf. It will feature a prize giveaway, a silent auction and food and drinks.

Adopt-A-Cut provides free grooming for shelter dogs, making them clean, fresh and adoptable. Keshia Blue, the organization’s founder, has seen almost every dog groomed through Adopt-A-Cut find a forever home.

“Dogs are more likely to be adopted if they are mat-free, clean, fresh and cute to greet their new owners,” she told the Times News. “I want to help them all put their best paw forward when finding their forever homes.”

Through Adopt-A-Cut, people who can’t adopt a dog can still help by “adopting” or sponsoring a grooming session.

Keshia is also the CEO and founder of her pet grooming and photography business DeafStar Photography and Designs.

“Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve always had two passions: animals and photography,” she said. “It wasn’t until I was much older that I realized I could professionally pursue both as careers.”

With Adopt-A-Cut, Keshia embraces another passion: animal advocacy.

Adopt-A-Cut is funded through Keshia’s photography and grooming business. With this fundraiser, Keshia hopes to spread awareness about the importance of grooming and help more dogs.

“I have been paying for everything I’ve been doing out of my own pocket because I believe in helping these dogs,” she explained. “This fundraiser will help me continue to do this for free for shelters, rescues and even foster parents.”

Through the support of Giovanni’s, Bella Vita, West Side Baptist Church, The Lavender Window, Capones, Little Cake, and ADT, Keshia has raised more than $500 in prizes. Prizes range from pet toys to beauty products to T-shirts. Even more products are available in the silent auction.
