Update: Kingsport man charged with attempted murder

BLOUNTVILLE — A man who allegedly tried to kill his former girlfriend and set fire to her Kingsport home has been arrested by police in Hamblen County.

Nathaniel White-Young, 30, was taken into custody on Monday morning.The previous afternoon he allegedly attacked a woman at her residence in the 400 block of Fordtown Road, where neighbors located her unconscious in the yard.

According to an incident report at the Sullivan County Sheriff's Office, the 37-year-old victim had a severe head injury and possibly broken bones. She was transported from the scene by EMS and remained hospitalized on Monday.

Along with assaulting the woman, White-Young allegedly set fire to her home. Damage was reportedly minimal, with the Warriors Path Volunteer Fire Department extinguishing the flames.

Police records state that the victim and White-Young have a child together, with White-Young allegedly taking him from the woman's residence after the assault. The SCSO reports that shortly before an Amber Alert was to be issued on Sunday evening, White-Young dropped the boy off at a residence.

During investigation of the case, detectives learned White-Young could be headed to Hamblen County. Law enforcement there located and arrested White-Young on Monday morning.

White-Young, address listed as C Street in Kingsport, is charged with attempted first-degree murder and arson. The investigation is continuing, with additional charges pending.

BLOUNTVILLE — A man is wanted for arson and attempted first-degree murder after a woman was found unresponsive in a yard on Sunday afternoon.

According to a Monday morning press release from the Sullivan County Sheriff's Office, the victim was located along Fordtown Road. She had received serious injuries was transported to a local medical facility for treatment.

Following overnight investigation, detectives have obtained a warrant for the arrest of Nathaniel White-Young, 30, of Kingsport. He currently remains at large

White-Young is described as 5 feet 11 inches tall and 180 lbs with brown hair and blue eyes. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call the SCSO (423) 279-7330.

No additional details about the incident were immediately released by police.
