Vernon Reeves, 64, 209 16th St. NW, Norton, was indicted on four felony counts each of indecent liberties while in a custodial relationship with a child younger than 18 and indecent liberties with a child under 18 while a grandparent or stepgrandparent.
The alleged offenses for which Reeves was charged happened between May and August. The charges of indecent liberties while in a custodial relationship each carry five-year maximum sentences, and the indecent liberties charges while a grandparent or stepgrandparent each carry maximum 10-year prison terms.
Thomas D. Short, 43, 1346 Mabe Stanley Road, Duffield, was indicted on seven felony counts of indecent liberties with a child under 18 and one count of aggravated sexual battery against a child younger than 13, for alleged offenses between January and December 2018. The indecent liberty charges carry five-year maximum sentences and the battery charge a 20-year maximum prison term.
Three state prisoners also were indicted on various weapons and wounding charges. Keith Dwane McDuffie, 32, Wallens Ridge State Prison, was indicted for assault and battery of a corrections officer in connection with an alleged Aug. 24, 2018 attack on Lt. Christopher Gilbert. McDuffie was also indicted on prohibition against killing or injuring a police dog on the same date and possession of marijuana. The possession and battery charges each carry a five-year maximum prison term and the prohibition charge a 10-year maximum sentence.
Red Onion State Prison inmate Carnell D. McCoy, 38, was indicted on charges of malicious wounding of another prisoner and possession of an unauthorized weapon in connection with an alleged May 31 attack. The wounding charge carries a 20-year prison term and the weapon charge a five-year maximum sentence.
Wallens Ridge inmate Calvin B. Munford, 42, was indicted on charges of malicious wounding and possession of a weapon by a prisoner in connection with an alleged Aug. 6, 2018 attack on another prisoner. The wounding charge carries a 20-year prison term and the weapon charge a five-year maximum sentence.
