ROGERSVILLE – A Hawkins County woman reportedly texted her son a photo Friday of his father pointing a gun at her head, setting off a Hawkins County Sheriff’s Office manhunt Friday afternoon in the Clinch Valley community.

The son reported the incident to the HCSO which began looking for the mother and father, James Paul Greene, 51, 308 Little Pumpkin Valley Road, Eidson.

But, the son reportedly told the HCSO that the photo had been texted from his father's phone.

HCSO stated in a report that after receiving the disturbing photo the son was unable to get either his mother or father to answer their phones.

The HCSO didn't find anyone when deputies arrived at the couple's residence, but Sgt. Bobby Moffitt stated in his report they were able to pinpoint their locations by “pinging” their cell phones.

Around 2:30 p.m. Mr. Greene was located on Clinch Valley Road and reportedly told Moffitt that he and his wife were having marital problems.

“James further stated that they had an argument the evening prior, and that she had left and he hasn't had any further contact with her,” Moffitt stated in his report. “James stated he had (his wife's) phone and she had his. When asked about the picture showing him pointing the handgun at (his wife's) head James stated it was him, he did take it, but didn't send it to anyone.”

When the HCSO located the wife she reportedly stated she had her husband's phone, found the photo of her husband pointing the gun at her head, and forwarded it to her son,

The wife stated she is in fear for her life and believes Greene will kill her.

Greene was charged with aggravated assault and remained held in the Hawkins County Jail over the weekend before being arraigned Monday in Sessions Court.

Aggravated assault is a Class C felony punishable by 3-6 years if convicted.
