BRISTOL,Va. — A 33-year-old Bristol, Va., inmate in the city jail has died, but authorities said no foul play is suspected.

According to a news release from the Bristol Va. Sheriff’s Office, which operates the city jail, at about 8:30 a.m. Saturday the Bristol Lifesaving Crew and Bristol Virginia Fire Department were dispatched to the facility because of an inmate having “an unknown medical emergency.”

Authorities on Saturday afternoon identified the inmate as Jeremiah Wilson.

After receiving immediate medical treatment from first responders, Wilson was transported to Bristol Regional Medical Center for further treatment but “has since passed away,” according to the release sent to media Saturday morning.

“Foul play is not suspected, but as procedure, the Bristol Virginia Police Department was contacted to investigate,” the news release said.
