KINGSPORT — Two juvenile boys, ages 13 and 15, were allegedly in the stolen Dodge 1500 that crashed Friday night on Lewis Lane.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol reports they apprehended the suspects at a Highway 11-W convenience store. They allegedly ran from the scene of the crash at about 8 p.m, then were taken into custody approximately three hours later. The truck caught fire following the wreck and was a total loss.

According to the THP, both boys are now held in a juvenile detention facility. Both are charged with possession of a stolen vehicle. The older suspect is also charged with reckless driving, failure to use due care and leaving the scene of a crash.

The crashed Dodge was one of two trucks stolen earlier that day from a residence on Moccasin Street, where they were left unlocked with the keys inside. The other vehicle was later found crashed by the Hawkins County Sheriff's Office.
