Although Arnold’s family hadn’t seen or heard from him since Dec. 8, 2016, he was reported missing three weeks later.
Arnold, who was 40 at the time he went missing, resided in the Church Hill area, but his last known location was in Mount Carmel.
In November 2017, the HCSO was notified that a human skull had been found in the area of Cherry Lane in Church Hill.
The HCSO, along with other local and state agencies, conducted three searches of the area using cadaver K-9s and grid searches.
Skeletal remains were found on top of the ground in one general location, near Arnold’s home.
The remains were sent to the James H. Quillen College of Medicine and were then transferred to the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System with UNT Health Science Center in Fort Worth, Texas.
In November 2018, the HCSO was notified the remains were determined to be Arnold.
The remains were found on a neighboring property in the area behind his home in a field.
After receiving the identification, the HCSO notified Arnold’s family.
The cause of death could not be determined.
Anyone who has information that could help determine what happened in this case is asked to contact the HCSO Detectives Division.
