Late Sunday afternoon, Deputy Kyle Shively responded to a shots fired complaint at the home of Michael Heath Weems, 43, 330 Oak Grove Road, Rogersville.
Shively met Weems’ wife, who said she had taken a .40-caliber Ruger pistol from her husband.
Weems was located in the living room holding a female juvenile, and he was taken into custody without incident.
Mrs. Weems stated that she and Weems had been arguing in the bedroom, when her husband picked up the pistol and pointed it at his head, threatening to shoot himself.
Mrs. Weems was forced out of the bedroom with two daughters and shut the door, and the three were standing near the bedroom when a gunshot was fired.
She and the children then exited the residence and called police.
Weems reportedly stated he fired a shot into the floor, away from the hallway where everyone was located because he was upset at the time.
The loaded pistol was located in the bedroom with a round in the chamber.
Shively stated in his report that a bullet hole was located in the bedroom floor, and he detected the smell of a recently fired firearm.
Weems was released from the Hawkins County Jail Monday on $3,000 bond.
