KINGSPORT — It took only 90 seconds for a pharmacy burglar to make away with $25,000 worth of assorted narcotics, according to police.

At about 4 a.m. Sunday, Kingsport police were alerted to an alarm activated at Marcum’s Pharmacy, 121 E. Ravine Road. Responding officers found a door had been pried open and an external alarm speaker had been tampered with.

The business had been ransacked, and the suspect had already fled. When an employee arrived and conducted an inventory, it was discovered that a large amount of prescription narcotics was missing from a cabinet.

A review of surveillance footage revealed a lone suspect dressed in black. Once he forced entry, he was only in the business about a minute and a half, then bolted out.

Anyone with information about the suspect or case is asked to call Kingsport police at (423) 229-9429 or (423) 246-9111.
