Hawkins County Sheriff's Office
A Surgoinsville resident filed a report against a man living in a tent near their home, claiming the suspect had sprayed water in his dog's house, causing it to flood. He was referred to private prosecution.
Police tracked a stolen iPhone to a Bulls Gap home, where residents claimed it wasn't present. While conducting a consent search, a tone alert was heard in a closet, leading an officer to the device. A man then claimed he had found it along the roadway and "just tossed it in the closet." He was arrested for possession of stolen property.
Sullivan County Sheriff's Office
When police were called to a Bristol residence, they found a man yelling, cursing and slurring his words. He also fell down a set of wooden steps multiple times, causing scrapes to his elbow and face. After being taken into custody for public intoxication, he admitting to using meth.
In Bloomingdale, officers found a disoriented woman in the roadway and "covered in her own blood." She claimed to have been robbed, with the suspect stealing her phone (it was actually lying on the ground) and her purse (that she was still holding.) Further investigation learned she had injured herself by running her fists through windows at a nearby rental property. Ultimately, she was arrested for public intoxication.
Kingsport Police Department
An officer responded to reports of a disturbance on Oak Street. From outside of an apartment, loud music and yelling could be heard inside, but the tenant refused to answer the door. Police were also told the suspect had been drinking heavily throughout the day. When the property manager responded with a key, it was discovered the suspect had destroyed floor tiling and damaged a door with a bicycle pump. He was arrested for vandalism and disorderly conduct.
— Indecent exposure was reported outside the Food City on Moreland Drive. A woman said that a vehicle parked beside her, then the driver used a flashlight to illuminate his penis while masturbating. She fled in her car, and a police search couldn't locate the suspect's truck.
— At 5 a.m., reports of gunfire led police to the area of Dale Street. When a patrol officer attempted to speak with a pedestrian, the man ignored commands and cut down an alley, then ran through yards and jumped a fence. A foot pursuit ended at a nearby apartment, where the suspect entered and two additional people were found sitting on a couch. When backup officers arrived, a search located meth, Subutex, pot and various drug paraphernalia. The initial chase suspect leases the residence, leading to charges of maintaining a dwelling where drugs are stored or sold. The other two were charged with possession of drugs for resale. Meanwhile, the source of the original gunfire was not immediately pinpointed.
