ROGERSVILLE — Police are looking for a Hawkins County man accused of shooting another man in the abdomen Tuesday morning in a Rogersville motel parking lot in what Rogersville Police Chief Doug Nelson described as an apparent “business transaction gone bad.”

Video surveillance from 7:50 a.m. at the Comfort Inn motel in Rogersville reportedly shows Justin Robert Feagins, 26, shoot another man in the side abdomen area.

The victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries but was undergoing surgery at Holston Valley Medical Center on Tuesday afternoon. Nelson said the victim, whose identity wasn’t released, was not cooperative and was belligerent with police

Nelson said the video shows Feagins holding a .380 caliber handgun. The victim was seated in a vehicle, and Feagins allegedly shot him in the side abdomen area and slammed the car door on him before fleeing the parking lot in a Chevrolet Sonic, which was originally white but was spray painted green.

A spent .380 shell casing was recovered at the motel parking lot.

Feagins is currently wanted by the RPD for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and police will confer with the Attorney General's office on how to proceed with charges for the actual shooting.

Feagins is also reportedly wanted on unspecified charges by the Hawkins County Sheriff’s Office, and at the time of the shooting he was driving the spray painted stolen Chevy Sonic on a revoked driver's license.

Although his driver’s license listed him as a resident of Midway, police said he has been staying in Rogersville for quite some time.

Anyone with information about Feagins’ whereabouts is asked to contact the RPD at (423) 272-7555.
