KINGSPORT — A Jonesborough man who seriously injured two elderly pedestrians earlier this year is now facing additional charges after law enforcement reportedly found child pornography on his cell phone.

Skylar Hawk Sexton was arrested in July on two counts of reckless aggravated assault, DUI and failure to maintain control of a motor vehicle. The charges stem from a parking lot crash in Colonial Heights where Sexton jumped a curb, lost control of his vehicle and hit the gas pedal instead of the brake.

During the accident, Sexton’s vehicle jumped two more curbs and struck two vehicles, one of which was knocked into two elderly pedestrians, seriously injuring them.

According to a press release from the Kingsport Police Department, Sexton admitted he had been using his cell phone at the time of the crash. In light of that information, authorities obtained a search warrant for the phone and found it contained several images of children, under the age of 18, in various stages of undress.

Detectives presented their findings to a Sullivan County grand jury, which subsequently returned an indictment against Sexton on 14 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor.

Sexton was arrested at his home on Thursday by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, then transported to the Kingsport City Jail, where he’s being held on a $10,000 bond pending arraignment.
