At about 10:45 p.m. Friday, a southbound 1994 F-150 pickup driven by Michael K. Marcum, 26, of Kingsport was attempting to turn onto Truxton Drive when he allegedly pulled into the path of a 1998 Honda Civic that was northbound on Lynn Garden Drive.
Kingsport police said Marcum failed to yield the right-of-way and turned his Ford into the path of the Honda, resulting in an angular front-end impact.
The driver of the Honda, Betty Davis, 62, of Kingsport; and her passenger, Phyllis J. Long, 75, of Kingsport were transported by EMS to a local hospital with "incapacitating injuries."
Long later succumbed to her injuries.
The KPD said the crash remains under investigation and charges are pending.
