CHURCH HILL — Police are hoping you can identify the man suspected of stealing a pickup and trailer last week in Church Hill.

Video surveillance at a Valero gas station in Weber City captured footage of the suspect and the vehicle.

On Thursday, the Church Hill Police Department received a report of a stolen 2002 Ford Explorer SportTrac that had a trailer hooked to the back. On Monday, CHPD Detective Ethan Mays and the Kingsport Police Department located the trailer in a garage in Kingsport.

Two people in possession of the trailer reportedly weren’t cooperative with investigators, and they have been charged with possession of stolen property.

As for the suspected thief, he remained unidentified as of Tuesday and the truck is still missing. The Explorer is dark blue and its tag number is R60-79T.

CHPD Chief Mark Jonson said the victim circulated photos of the stolen truck and trailer on Facebook.

“A friend of his saw a similar truck at a gas station in Weber City Sunday,” Johnson said. “He called the victim. Victim called us. Detective Mays went yesterday and made a positive ID on truck.”

Anyone who knows the identity of the male in the surveillance photos and/or the location of the pickup is asked to call Mays at (423) 357-3487 ext. 3.

If the truck is seen, please call 911 ASAP.
