Police in pursuit of purse thief

KINGSPORT - Kingsport police are looking for a woman who allegedly stole $400 worth of purses from the Belk’s at the Fort Henry Mall.

According to a press release from the Kingsport Police Department, an unidentified white female came into the Belk’s around 8:15 p.m. on June 18. She walked directly to the ladies handbag section, selected a total of four purses, and exited the store without paying for any of them.

Total value of the stolen merchandise was approximately $400.

After reviewing the store surveillance video, KPD says the woman could be seen entering the store more or less empty-handed, and then exiting the store with multiple handbags slung over her shoulders.
