ROGERSVILLE — Two of three people arrested during a traffic stop in 2016 were sentenced to eight years each last week in Hawkins County Circuit Court meth trafficking charges.

The third defendant, Michael Lee Deal 30 of Bulls Gap, was sentenced to 10 years in January after pleading guilty before Judge John Dugger to meth trafficking, meth manufacturing, and illegal gun possession.

On June 24, 2016 Deal was spotted by the HCSO as a passenger in a vehicle on Rt. 66S near Rogersville and recognized as being wanted for probation violation.

Shelley Deann Day, 37, of Rogersville was the driver, and Travis Jerome Kimbrough, 36, of Rogersville was another passenger.

As a result of the subsequent traffic stop at the Creekside Market just south of Rogersville the HCSO seized a .45 caliber handgun, digital scales and $247 in cash from Deal; 16 grams of meth packaged in nine separate baggies from Kimbrough; and two loaded pistols from under the driver's seat.

The investigation revealed that Deal handed part of the meth that was seized to Kimbrough after the traffic stop was initiated.

Day was sentenced on May 18 to eight years at 30 percent and ordered to pay $7,410 in fines and fees in exchange for guilty pleas to possession of meth with intent to deliver, facilitation to possession of meth with intent to deliver, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving on a revoked license.
