ROGERSVILLE — A Hawkins County man was killed Tuesday afternoon when a Chevy Blazer allegedly pulled onto Highway 11-W into the path of an oncoming motorcycle.

According to a Tennessee Highway Patrol report, Carl J. Smith, 22, of Rogersville, was driving a 2010 Honda motorcycle west on Highway 11-W on the west end of Rogersville shortly before 5 p.m.

As Smith approached the West Main Street intersection, a 2004 Chevy Blazer driven by Brian Russell, 46, of Rogersville, reportedly crossed 11-W from the West Main Street stop sign.

Police say Russell pulled into the westbound lanes into the path of Smith’s motorcycle, resulting in a collision.

Smith suffered fatal injuries.

Neither Russell nor a juvenile passenger in his vehicle were injured.

No charges or citations were issued, although the investigation is ongoing.
