According to the Tennessee Department of Health (www.tn.gov/health/cedep/ncov) Saturday, Washington County added three cases and Greene County added one to their pandemic totals. Washington now stands at 72 cases. Greene County’s case and death totals are 48 and two, respectively.
Hawkins and Carter counties remained level Friday: 31 cases and two deaths during the pandemic for Hawkins and 19 cases and one death in Carter. Sullivan County’s case and death total remained at 61 and two.
Johnson and Unicoi counties also remained level Saturday with 15 and three cases, respectively.
In Southwest Virginia, the LENOWISCO Health District remained at 42 confirmed cases and four deaths during the pandemic, according to the Virginia Department of Health (www.vdh.virginia.gov/coronavirus). Wise County’s case and death total remained at 24 and two, with Scott County’s totals at seven cases and two deaths. Lee County and Norton, which have not seen any deaths during the pandemic, stood at nine and two cases, respectively.
In Tennessee, 19,789 cases and 329 deaths were reported Saturday — an increase of 395 and 14, respectively. The pandemic total statewide testing rate was 373,758 of 6.83 million state residents, or 5.47%.
Testing rates by county in Northeast Tennessee on Saturday were:
— Hawkins, 1,377 people or 2.42%
— Sullivan, 3,542 or 2.24%
— Washington, 2,936 or 2.27%
— Johnson, 1,889 or 10.62%
— Carter, 1,243 or 2.2%
— Greene, 1,738 or 2.52%
— Unicoi, 409 or 2.29%
Statewide, Virginia reported a pandemic total of 35,749 cases and 1,159 deaths — increases of 799 and 23, respectively. The statewide testing rate for people with nasal swab and blood tests was 258,163 of 8.63 million state residents, or 2.99% of the population. For nasal swab testing only, 230,683 people have been tested to date, or 2.67%.
Across the LENOWISCO district, 1,642 people have been tested via nasal swab during the pandemic — 1.9% of the district’s 86,471 residents. Nasal swab testing rates for the district’s four main localities in Saturday’s report were:
— Lee County, 370 or 1.58%
— Norton, 75 or 1.88%
— Wise County, 789 or 2.11%
— Scott County, 308 or 1.89%
