The county’s contract with ARC-TV expired June 30 after District 1 Supervisor Bobby Cassel moved in June to let the contract lapse and look at other options regarding the recording and content promoting the county on Comcast public access channel 19. Those options included possible negotiations with an unnamed second party.
County Administrator Mike Hatfield on Friday confirmed that the BOS directed him to continue negotiating a new contract with ARC-TV owner Ernie Benko.
Hatfield said that no specifics have been set for the type of contract that could result from negotiations with ARC-TV.
Broadcasts under the expired 2018 $17,500 contract between the county and ARC did not require live broadcasts of meetings. Broadcasts of the most recent recorded meeting began on the Wednesday after each meeting, with repeats on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 1 and 7 p.m.
Cassell, at the time of the June BOS meeting, said the motion had nothing to do with Benko’s performance under the contract.
