GREENVILLE, S.C. — Logan McCarter had a career-best 178 yards receiving with one touchdown and caught an onside kick in stride and sprinted 47 yards for the score in Furman’s 56-35 Southern Conference win over East Tennessee State on Saturday.

ETSU kicked a field goal to close to 42-27 with 8:16 left in the game. The Bucs tried an onside kick that McCarter fielded on the hop and sprinted into the end zone. McCarter finished with 225 all-purpose yards.

ETSU junior quarterback Austin Herink passed for a school-record 434 yards with three touchdowns, including a 78-yard scoring strike to Hunter Wilke, but the Bucs (2-3, 1-2) couldn't keep up with the Paladins (2-3, 1-1).

Tyler Voyles sacked Herink twice, and the Paladins totaled six sacks for the day.

P.J. Blazejowski threw for 301 yards and three touchdowns for Furman. The Paladins also rushed 308 yards.
