Feeling crafty: MECC gearing up for this weekend’s Home Craft Days

The Mountain Empire Community College campus had plenty of hay bales, corn shocks and decorations out and about as the 48th annual Home Craft Days celebration approaches this weekend.

The event starts Friday with a 6 p.m. concert at the college’s Goodloe Center featuring John McCutcheon, Alice Gerrard and Kay Justice.

Vendors, music, food, crafts and artisans will be open on Saturday and Sunday on the MECC campus from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Parking is limited at MECC during Home Craft Days, and visitors are encouraged to use the shuttle system provided by Mountain Empire each day from 9:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Rides are $1 per boarding. Pickup sites are:

Union High School

Wood Avenue curbside — in front of Food City

Municipal parking lot curbside — behind Big Stone Gap Post Office/Federal Building

Country Inn in Big Stone Gap

Comfort Inn
