Central, Eastside claim back-to-back state Forensics titles

The Central Wise Warriors are adding more hardware to the trophy case. This time, in Forensics.

Central claimed its second straight 2A Forensics championship on Saturday, March 30, during the VHSL State Forensics Tournament at Clover Hill High School in Midlothian, Virginia. It is the third state Forensics title for Central since the high school opened in 2011. The team is coached by Jan Thompson and Debra Taylor.

Eastside High School, also in Wise County, captured its second straight 1A Forensics title. Castlewood, a 2017 champion, finished third.

Nearly 600 people participated in the event with 109 different schools across Virginia's six classifications represented by the 430 students and more than 130 judges and coaches in attendance.
