'Tis (Always) the season for shopping and fun in Downtown Kingsport

Contributed • Oct 29, 2018 at 9:15 PM

Halloween is just a few days away and Downtown Kingsport has been abuzz with activities, festivals and events.

The annual Downtown Kingsport Association's Fall Window Decorating Contest wrapped up this week, with more than 1,000 patrons casting votes for their favorite small and large storefront displays. Kingsport Ballet, located at 201 Cherokee Street, captured top honors in the small storefront category; Bortz Graphix Plus and Cherie's Boutique tied in the large storefront category and (at print time) were in the midst of a head-to-head tiebreaking poll. (Update: Cherie’s Boutique won the tiebreaker to earn the large storefront’s top honor).

As the calendar turns to November, Downtown Kingsport merchants are preparing to usher in the shopping season with the annual Holiday Open House from 5 to 8 p.m., Thursday. The event kicks off a flurry of activity in and around Downtown Kingsport over the next several weeks. Here's a look at some of the events on tap in coming weeks:
