FALL BRANCH — Logans Chapel United Methodist Church will be hosting it’s 40th annual “Lord’s Acre Sale” at the church this Saturday (September 8), featuring baked goods, canned goods, crafts and a "big country breakfast."
This is only the third year the event has been held at the church in its fellowship hall. Prior to 2016, the church along with many others participated in an annual fall bazaar at the Fort Henry Mall. New ownership of the mall ended that event.
It turned out to be a hidden blessing for Logans Chapel, church members said this week as they prepared for this year's event.
"We've actually done much better here at the church and the sale only lasts one day instead of three (as it did back in the mall days)," Vendetta Hite said.
The doors will open at 7:30 a.m. Saturday and if history repeats itself much of the canned goods and baked goods will be sold out in no time.
Especially popular each year are the home-canned green beans ($6 a quart), vegatable soup ($7 a quart) and cakes and pies (various prices). The cake and pie selections will include: sour cream pound cake, red velvet cake, German chocolate cake, chocolate cake, carrot cake, coconut pie, apple pie and more. All are handmade from scratch. Homemade candies will also be available.
All-you-can-eat breakfast ($8) will include eggs, bacon, sausage, gravy, biscuits, stewed apples and fruit and will be served from 7:30 a.m. until noon, when the sale draws to a close.
Money raised by the sale will go toward paying for the church's new fellowship hall.
Logans Chapel United Methodist Church is located at 209 Logan Chapel Road, off Fordtown Road.
