What's happening in downtown Kingsport this weekend?

KINGSPORT —  Will live music, food trucks and live theater be going on in downtown Kingsport this weekend?

Absolutely.

The lineup, supplied by the Downtown Kingsport Association, follows.

Today

SLEEPY OWL BREWERY:

JP PARSONS

JP Parsons is a singer/songwriter from Bristol, Va. Locals know him as Bristol's Troubadour. JP's albums 'Appalachian Travels' and 'Until This Day is Done' move listeners to turn up the volume and memorize the words. He crafts new songs all the time. He writes with purpose. Listen with intent and enjoy.

HIGH VOLTAGE:

BEER & BUNCO

La Abejita Food Truck will be fixing your supper. It's BEER and BUNCO time! We will teach you how to play if you don't know. Tutorials begin at 6:30 and we will be rolling for ones at 7 PM. Prizes for Most Buncos, most Wins and Most Losses!

TD HICKS

Born in Kingsport, TD learned guitar and piano at the age of 15, and his love of music only grew as he continued to learn other instruments. He moved to the Nashville area in fall of 2016 and has since performed numerous gigs solo or with his full band all over the Southeast. He describes his music as, "Somewhere between The Eagles & Keith Urban."

We will open at 5 p.m. so come by before the Twilight Alive concert and come back afterwards! Opie's Pizza Wagon will be serving up hot pizza and Petite Sweets Shortcake Bus will cover your sweet tooth with their ice cream, edible cookie dough and cupcakes! We have a great selection of Summertime beers, ciders and seltzers at the Fuse Box. All of our yard games will be out so come on down

DEPARTURE: JOURNEY TRIBUTE BAND

After 10 years together, DEPARTURE has become the most respected Journey tribute band in the nation. DEPARTURE replicates the look, sound and feel of the original 80s rock super group. The five band members are the original line up and have developed an amazing on-stage chemistry. These veteran musicians pride themselves on giving their audience an incredible high-energy, qualitative stage show from start to finish.

As an Alternative band from Atlanta, Ga,, Paper Lights have honed a large and cinematic soundscape within their music. Over the last two years they have toured internationally, opening for acts such as Allen Stone, The Fray and Mike Snow. In 2018, the band was awarded IMEA's Alternative Album of the Year as well as Song of the Year and nomination for Artist of the Year.

You can catch this local artist playing all over the region whether playing a simple accoustic set up, accompanying another local musician, or with a full 5-piece band. He sings the sing-alongs we've all grown to know and love. Join him this week, and get ready to dance and sing along!

KINGSPORT FARMER’S MARKET:

SATURDAYS WITH THE CHEFS

Saturdays with the Chef is a free cooking demo series showcasing Kingsport chefs and their recipes using produce available at the Kingsport Farmers Market. Copies of each chef's recipe will be available at the demo and online. This Saturday will feature Barberito's Mitch Wright and there will be free samples after the demo!

LAMPLIGHT THEATRE:

WOMEN OF FAITH

Travel through the scriptures as prominent women in the Bible bring their stories of faith alive. This premiere production is written and directed by Stephanie Davidson. Our storyteller will take you on a journey through the Bible and introduce you to our cast of inspirational characters. >From the satirical view of Eve in the Garden to the sibling rivalry of Lazarus' sisters, Mary and Martha, the thread of faith weaves through each story in this production.

Come downtown Kingsport to High Voltage this Saturday night to hear the great sounds of FLATLINE - featuring Kevin Kirk, John Ehrenfried, Greg Pastrick, Jeff Vaughn, Mike Nannenga and Alvin McConnell. Food by Hokie Smoke Food Truck will start serving when the gates open at 5 p.m.!

TROUBLESOME HOLLOW

Join Troublesome Hollow for an evening of great bluegrass and Americana music at The Pickin' Porch Show. Tim White, Garry Ollis and Donald Ollis will swap stories, tell a few jokes and and play songs from their new album "Old School." See why music critic Keith Lawrence of the Owensboro Messenger-Inquirer wrote If you're looking for hard-core bluegrass...look no farther than Troublesome Hollow's 'Old School.'"

CURBSIDE ORCHESTRA

Curbside Orchestra plays a special blend of music, that's all their own. They call it 'Yallternative' and they ferment that sound with hints of Americana. Covering well known classics along with some infectious originals. Soaring female vocals backed by vibrant acoustic guitar and rhythm section.

RUSSELL CLARK

Russell picked up the guitar at 18, and enjoys a wide variety of musical influences, including Jason Isbell, Chris Stapleton, Bill Withers, and many more. He hails from Kingsport, TN, and loves the opportunity to bring his always entertaining and fun musical swagger home, to play local venues in the area.
