With a goal of $60,000 for 2017, the fund to date has brought in just $32,979, or 52 percent of the goal.
So what does that mean? As it stands today, the fund in 2018 will have the financial resources to help only about one-half the number of local individuals and families it aided this year and in years past. But the hard reality is that the number of those in need will not shrink to half in 2018. Even with a bustling economy, there will always be those in our community — our coworkers, friends and neighbors — who have fallen on hard times, often through no fault of their own. They will need your help.
The Times News Rescue Fund is a not-for-profit, independent entity that was established in 1973 to help the struggling and less fortunate among us.
Help your friends and neighbors with a contribution to the Times News Rescue Fund. No donation is too small and every penny contributed goes to help those in need. The cost of administering the fund and distributing all donations is absorbed by the Times News.
