On Thursday, the Tennessee College of Applied Technology campus at the Phipps Bend Industrial Park near Surgoinsville will host a jobs fair featuring several local factories looking for workers.
The jobs fair is being organized by the Hawkins County Industrial Development Board and was requested last month by representatives of multiple plants at the industrial park.
Twice a year the IDB hosts an existing industry meeting to hear comments and requests from local industries.
During the July meeting, some industries reportedly indicated they’re having trouble finding enough reliable employees willing to come to work every day on time.
Among the plants that will be represented at Thursday’s event are Cooper Standard, Techni-Glass, Homeland Vinyl, Delfort Group, ABB, Miyake Forging and Sam Dong. The Hawkins County Sheriff’s Office, Kelly Services, @Work, and the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development will also be represented.
The jobs fair is from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Phipps Bend TCAT, 323 Phipps Bend Road, Surgoinsville.
The public is invited to attend and encouraged to come prepared with resume, picture ID and Social Security card.
There will also be a TCAT representative available to assist with resume writing.
