Tacala, which operates the Taco Bell franchise, announced Wednesday that a new Taco Bell location is coming to town, with construction expected to begin March 19.
“We are looking forward to being a part of this community and increasing the convenience to residents looking for the great taste of Taco Bell food and beverages,” said Michael Border, Tacala chief development officer, in a press release.
He added that the Taco Bell closest to Gate City is located 10 miles away in Kingsport.
Located at the site of a former pizza restaurant on Kane Street, the new Taco Bell will be across the street from Gate City Middle School/High School. The 66-seat restaurant will feature digital menu boards in the dining room, free Wi-Fi and a large patio for gathering.
Construction is expected to last about four months, which means Gate City residents will be enjoying Doritos Locos Tacos and Baja Blast Freezes by midsummer.
Taco Bell will be hiring and training 30 to 40 local residents to staff the new location within the next three months.
“Tacala believes in helping our employees get more out of life,” said Jessie Graham, Tacala market director, in a press release. “Our restaurants strive to live this out through teamwork, education opportunities, professional and personal development and career advancement.”
The job openings in Gate City will be posted at the end of April.
