KINGSPORT — Got breakfast?

The A.M. is a breakfast delivery service located in downtown Kingsport.

The business operates out of Shabby Allie’s catering kitchen on Shelby Street and has a delivery radius of roughly four miles from that location.

“We specialize in creating simple, light and savory meals at your convenience,” business owner Zachary Starnes said in an email. “Each weekday is a different breakfast item, and what you receive with your order is the breakfast item of that day, coffee, a newspaper (the Times News) and choice of smoothie or fruit parfait. These items make up what we call a breakfast bundle, and costs $8 including delivery, but a tip for the driver is encouraged. We offer a variety of meals. Sweet, healthy, filling, and all meals in between. And for the gluten-free customers, we offer create-your-own omelettes as a secondary option.”

Starnes said he’s a 24-year-old entrepreneur who moved back home to Kingsport from Nashville to begin the process of restoring and revitalizing the historic State Theater.

“In the meantime, I needed a way to create income,” he explained. “That thinking led me to A.M. The idea for the business came from a combination of my love for breakfast, my skill to prepare breakfast foods, and a certain late night that left me hungry and wondering why more places didn’t deliver. Which then led me to think why no one delivered breakfast. ... After all, it is the most important meal of the day.

“A.M. wants to cater to the people whose busy lifestyle has left them without the time to start their day off with breakfast. Offices, business owners, assisted living persons, and all the people in need of the most important meal of the day. Besides, breakfast is always better in the A.M.”
